Scott Green Ancient Martingale Collar

Our Scott Green Ancient Tartan Martingale Collar is made from perhaps one of the most famous Scottish tartans. Representing power, the original Ancient tartan can be traced back to the family of the writer, Sir Walter Scott.

This martingale collar is made using the Scott Green Ancient tartan which features soft greens, orangey reds and blues. The word ‘ancient’ refers to the original clan tartans that were made with natural animal and vegetable dyes before the introduction of chemical dyes in 1860. Some of our customers prefer the Ancient Scott Green Tartan to the modern version because it shows off the plaid to much greater effect as the contrasts are much brighter than the modern Scott Green Tartan.

The difference between full and reduced loop martingale collars

Martingale collars have a unique design which keeps your dog from escaping or backing out of their collar, no matter how hard they pull. The martingale collar sits comfortably loose around your dogs neck, gently tightening when your dog starts to pull.

Martingales are a perfect choice when walking or training dogs. They can also help manage shy or timed personalties who may buck their collar. You’ll see that the reduced loop version has a slightly narrower control loop when compared to the full loop version.

This collar is available in three widths; 1″, 1,5″ and 2″ and in six different sizes; Extra-Small, Small, Small-Medium, Medium, Large, Extra-Large.

Caring for your Collar

If your martingale dog collar soils, I recommend hand washing or spot cleaning the affected area first. You can machine wash it, but before doing so, the dog collar should be placed in a laundry bag and washed on a 30º, delicate cycle. Do not tumble dry.  Leave it to air dry on a flat surface instead.
